James H. Huntington, a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army's 15th Regiment wrote to his friend Lewis Brown about life in the army, the conditions in Mexico, his reflections on war and patriotism and the deaths of his comrades.  He also comments on the attitudes of enlisted men towards the officers.
