Richard Sewell, a history professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison received a letter from a former student, now a soldier in Saudi Arabia prior to the start of Desert Storm, in which he discussed similarities that he noticed between the modern soldiers and those of the Union Army during the Civil War.
