GCM Travel - Gary, Chicago, and Milwaukee Corridor Transportation Information
This site contains a map of the interstate highway system in and around Gary, Indiana; Chicago, Illinois; and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Users can select a particular point within that region and view current road conditions, construction, and estimated travel times.

Yellowstone Trail
Site gives a brief history of the Yellowstone Trail, the route developed from 1912-1930 that opened the Northwest to the automobile tourist.

National Atlas of the United States -- 1870, 1880, 1890, and 1970 editions
This site contains digitized versions of the 1870, 1880, 1890, and 1970 U.S. National Atlas available on the Library of Congress American Memory Web site.

Contains information about real estate and flood data. 

U.S. Gazetteer
The US Government Census Bureau Gazetteer. This gazetteer is used to identify places to view with the Tiger Map Server and obtain census data from the 1990 Census Lookup server.

27 Weather-Straight to the Point
Shows a Super Doppler radar image of parts of Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois. You can get current conditions and forecasts.

Canadian Ice Service
Maintained by the Meteorological Service of Canada's Canadian Ice Service, this site is Environment Canada's official on-line presence for information about sea ice conditions in Canadian waters.

Current Climate Situation in the Midwest
This site offers information about current climate conditions in the Midwest.

Current US Weather
This is a map of current weather conditions across the United States. To get a forecast for a specific location, click on that location. Please note that not all cities are available on this map.

EarthWatch/Weather on Demand
It offers information such as weather headlines, stormwatch, forecasts, satellite and radar imagery, current conditions, and earthwatch products.

Intellicast Weather
This site offers detailed information on weather conditions at many different levels: local forecast, travel, outdoors, health, sailing, golf, and more.

Latest Global Composite
Offers a view of the Earth's land and water temperatures and cloud cover.

Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC)
The website has current Canadian weather conditions, forecasts, and weather facts; MSC publications and data; topical links to other websites; information about MSC research initiatives; teachers' information; job listings; etc.

National Weather Service: Milwaukee/Sullivan
Shows a number of counties in Wisconsin that you can click on to get current weather conditions and forecasts.

Real Time Weather Data
This site offers the latest satellite imagery from GOES-8, radar images from NEXRAD (i.e.,WSR88-D), surface data from airports around the world, and other weather-related information. It has visible, infrared, water vapor, and come in the most up to date and animation form. It also offers specialized map and real time weather data. 

Snow Cover, U.S. and Northern Hemisphere
Maps of snow cover in the U.S. and the rest of the Northern Hemisphere as observed from satellites. From the National Operational Hydrologic Remote Sensing Center, National Weather Service.

Sea Surface Temperature
Displays a map of the world's sea surface temperatures.

US Animated Radar Display
Displays the US by radar. It shows cloud tops, convective sigmets, and outlooks.

U.S. Drought Monitor
This site posts a weekly summary and map of drought conditions in the United States and maintains an archive of maps and summaries dating from May 1999. General information about drought monitoring and the drought classification system as well as climatological links are also on the site.

USA National Composite
This shows the current weather conditions in the US

Shows surface snow depth for the United States.

Weather Office--Environment Canada

Digital Sanborn Maps (Wisconsin maps only)"UWM only" symbol
Sanborn maps are large-scale plans of a city or town drawn at a scale of 50 feet to an inch. The maps list street blocks and building numbers including numbers in use at the time the map was made and previous numbers.

Endangered Resources - Wisconsin Departmnet of Natural Resources
The site contains maps and information about State Natural Areas; rare, threatened and endangered species; the Natural Heritage Inventory; and much more.

Ice Age Trail Map Buffet
A link to a map of Wisconsin's Ice Age Trai. Information about the trail is organized into separate layers or themes, such as parking, camping, trails, etc. The various layers can be turned off or veiw in combination with any other layers.

Milwaukee Map Service
This site allows you to search a city of Milwaukee parcel database with additional layers such as neighborhoods, police districts, hospitals, libraries, etc. You can retrieve detailed maps down to parcel and building footprint level as well as property records, which can be printed out.

Wisconsin Land Information Program
Web page of the Wisconsin Land Information Program, a voluntary, statewide program that provides financial and technical support to local governments for land records modernization efforts. The Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) oversees the Program's policies.

The site contains a list WGNHS publications, samples of WGNHS maps,earth science-related websites, and general information about the WGNHS.

Wisconsin Historical Society Archives
Web site of the Archives of the Wisconsin Historical Society. The site describes the Archives' reference services, programs, services, and holdings. Among other information, it also includes an online catalog, finding aids, and a listing of Area Research Centers through out Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Natural Heritage Inventory (NHI)
Access the Wisconsin Natural Heritage Inventory, a statewide inventory of known locations and conditions of rare and endangered species in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Public Land Survey Records
Images of the field notes and plat maps of the public land survey of Wisconsin, conducted between 1832 and 1866 by the federal General Land Office, are available at this web site. The images are searchable by township/ range or can be accessed via an interactive map of Wisconsin.

Wisconsin DNR Lake Maps Directory
Links to maps of Wisconsin lakes, indexed by Wisconsin county and by lake name. Also contains links to the Wisconsin Lake Book, 1999 and 2001 revisions.

Nasa's Planetary Photojournal
Spectacular images of the sun, planets, and small bodies in our solar system, as well as images of other celestial bodies and events. The images may be both searched and downloaded.

National Geographic Map Machine
A site that houses a map server with worldwide maps that can be queried in formats such as satellite images and political maps.
