The Fall 2004 issue of the UWM Libraries Newsletter is now available, featuring stories about the Libraries' new digital collections, new resources such as the historical New York Times online, and a current exhibit on European artists books. UWM Chancellor Carlos Santiago cut the ceremonial ribbon at the grand opening of the UWM Libraries' Gathering Place @ your library®, located on the first floor of the Golda Meir Library's East Wing. Offering Alterra coffee drinks and baked goods (provided by the Union's Grind), wireless access to the internet, comfortable seating, and a casual atmosphere, Gathering Place @ your library® promises to provide both a refuge from the busy campus and a stimulating meeting ground for the UWM community. Hours of the café during the fall semester will be 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.Thursday, October 28, 2004

OECD data available in LexisNexis Statistical
Statistical information from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is available in the LexisNexis Statistical database. The OECD collects statistics needed for the analysis of economic and social developments, such as labor force, employment, and foreign trade data. Examples of full-text reports from OECD that are available include: OECD Economic Outlook, Labour Force Statistics 1982-2002 and International Trade by Commodities Statistics.Friday, October 15, 2004
Archives Week
Archives Week runs from October 17-23, and this year's theme is Wisconsin Votes! The Archives has created two exhibits for Archives week: * A new online exhibit features selected clips from the WTMJ-TV Collection. Entitled "Wisconsin Votes! Politics and Politicians in the WTMJ-TV News Film Collection" can be found on the Web at: www.uwm.edu/Libraries/arch/archivesweek.htm. * An exhibit featuring campaign-related materials from a number of manuscript collections is on display outside the Archives (room W250). Friends of the Library Used Book Sale
Over 6,000 books will be available at the Friends of the Golda Meir Library Fall Used Book Sale, October 18-20, held in the Library's fourth floor Conference Center. The sale is open to UWM students only (with valid ID) on Monday, October 18, from 3 to 6 p.m. The sale is open to the public on Tuesday, October 19 and Wednesday, October 20, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.Friday, October 01, 2004
