Browsing the CollectionAn alternative to viewing the Collection via the Selections links on the Home Page is to use the Site Map to browse for individual items. The Site Map lists items by Topic as well as by Format and Media Type. File Formats and SoftwareThe majority of the items that were digitized for the Collection are in Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF). Adobe Reader is needed to view PDF files and may be downloaded for free from the Adobe Reader Download Page. One of the best features of Adobe Reader is its ability to zoom in and out on text and images without any degradation in quality. Details in images may be examined and text may be enlarged for easy reading. Most Web browsers will allow you to adjust the size of the text on regular Web pages. If you have a mouse with a wheel between its buttons, a shortcut that works in most browsers is to hold down the Ctrl key while slowing moving the mouse wheel up or down to increase or decrease the text size. Otherwise, see the options under the View Menu for your browser. Copyright Information The works and images on this site are in the public domain. Site ResponsibilityThis site was created by Rick Krause under the direction of Special Collections Librarian Max Yela at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Krause wishes to thank Librarian Max Yela and Professor Iris Xie of UWM's School of Information Studies for their help, suggestions, and inspiration. Krause is a graduate student in UWM's School of Information Studies and an intern in Special Collections at UWM's Golda Meir Library. |
