How do I find materials the UWM libraries do not own?

If the book is owned by the UWM Libraries but is checked out, use the "Recall Request" form available in PantherCat (more information).

When the UWM Libraries do not own an item that you are looking for:

  • Search the UW System via PantherCat for your title. If you find it, you can place a recall on the item to have it delivered to UW-Milwaukee. (more information)
  • Check the catalogs for other libraries in town. Ask a librarian at the Information Desk about obtaining an InfoPass, which allows you to check out books from selected libraries in the Milwaukee area.
  • Search WorldCat, a catalog to libraries worldwide. Once you locate a record in WorldCat, click on the Find It! button and then the interlibrary loan link to request the book online. For more information, refer to the WorldCat User Guide.
  • Request the item through Interlibrary Loan by filling out the ILL request form (available via Services at a Glance from the library homepage).

See the Options for Obtaining Library Materials page for a more detailed list of available services.
