The Curriculum Library Has the Following Materials: |

Books in the Professional Collection are selected for their usefulness to teachers, student teachers, education and library science students. The emphasis is on practical materials presenting teaching methods and activities. It includes information on assessment, how-to teach various subjects, subject related activities, seat work and crafts. |

Children's & Young Adult Literature Juvenile literature includes children's and young adult books. Fiction and nonfiction books can be found by author, title, subject, and keyword in the online catalog. Picture books are identified by orange labels on their spines, and can be searched by the subject heading "Picture books". Award winners such as Caldecott, Newbery and C.S. King may also be searched under those headings. Titles written by Wisconsin authors may be searched using the subject "Wisconsin Authors." Non-english juvenile literature is shelved seperately and is located on shelves near the service counter. |

This collection is a representative one, including recently published elementary and secondary textbooks (student and teacher editions) in a wide variety of subject areas. Books are arranged on the shelf first by subject (i.e., language arts is La, reading is La-R, remedial reading is La-RR, math is Ma, social studies is SS, etc.), secondly by publisher, then by grade level and date. |

The Curriculum Library has a variety of kits designed to teach specific skills or concepts. These kits contain materials such as math manipulatives, activity cards, videos, games, cd-rom's, etc. The Curriculum Library holds many non-book items as well, including charts, study prints, slides, records, and audiotapes. All the above items are fully cataloged and can be found in the online catalog. File cabinets on the west wall hold a collection of current publishers and school supply catalogs filed alphabetically by company name |

Many reviews of children's books, textbooks, and audiovisual materials can be found in books and periodicals located in the Curriculum Library Reference section. The Reference section also includes bibliographies of children's and young adult literature, information about authors and illustrators of children's books, and tools to aid in the selection of books and audiovisual materials for school or public libraries. The Education Librarian will provide assistance for any of these materials. |

The Historical Collection contains over 3000 volumes of older award winning children's literature, early editions of classics, such as Alice in Wonderland and Little Women, and examples of older textbooks in variety of subject areas. Also held in the Historical Collection are samples of different editions of popular series from the past, such as the Bobbsey Twins, Hardy Boys, and Nancy Drew, and over one hundred volumes of boys' adventure/historical fiction by noted 19th century author G. A. Henty. Materials from the Historical Collection generally do not circulate and may be used only in the Curriculum Library. |

Curriculum Guides Included in this collection are curriculum guides for most subjects in the school curriculum, representing K-12 schools from all geographical areas. The guides are kept in file drawers and are arranged first by broad subject areas, then by the state or country where the school system is located, and finally by title. A separate set of curriculum guides from the Milwaukee area CESA (Cooperative Educational Services Agencies) comprise the Wisconsin Curriculum Project. Additional curriculum guides are available electronically via the Library's subscription to the Kraus Curriculum Development Library. |
