Subject Listing: World War II |

During World War II, Marian Silveus, history professor at the Wisconsin State
College, Milwaukee (predecessor institution to the University of
Wisconsin--Milwaukee), received numerous letters from former
students who were serving in the armed forces. In 1943, Corporal Sam Falbo
chose this postcard, depicting Shirley Temple's childhood home, to inform
Professor Silveus of his engagement and the conditions he had to endure at the
Antiaircraft Artillery Training Center at Camp Irwin in Barstow, California.
