During World War I, Henry Barnard Hitz served as a surgeon in the United States Army. While in the service Dr. Hitz received several appointments and promotions, including the above appointment, dated September 3, 1918, as a Major in the Army's Medical Corp. Hitz retained the rank of Major until he was honorably discharged on March 17,1919.
