Papers of a Milwaukee journalist and real estate agent who was active in the Polish National Alliance and in the resettlement of World War II refugees. Included are correspondence, printed documents, programs, convention records, and microfilmed scrapbooks of newsclippings regarding Pankiewicz and his wife Emilia. Also contains microfilmed scrapbooks about Emilia's father, Jozef Kosciuk, a noted actor in Milwaukee Polish theater and film productions in the 1910s and 1920s, including a few playbills and descriptions of productions at the Pulaski Theatre (Teatr Pulaski), Nowosci Theatre, the Lincoln Theatre, and performances by the Polish Dramatic Club; and a poster used to advertise the film Halka (1925). Records of a club organized in 1953 to create interest in Polish culture and traditions, inspire American Poles with pride in their heritage, and sponsor the Polish exhibit and booth at the city's annual folk fair. It contains correspondence, administrative and financial records, and newspaper clippings (Milwaukee Micro Collection 39) which document annual Easter teas, event programs, Polonaise ball invitations, a speech (ca. 1986) highlighting the group's achievements, Chopin piano contests, scholarship and achievement awards, and St. John's Eve (Swietojanki) celebrations. Also well-documented is the work of two long-time Polanki leaders, Harriet Gostomski and Janet H. Branden. A citation by the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors honoring Branden is included. Included are two volumes of microfilmed minutes in Polish (1916-1926), of both the men's organization and the women's auxiliary; anniversary programs and histories; several district convention and bowling programs; and newsclippings. The collection includes records of both the Wisconsin State Department and individual posts throughout the state, consisting of correspondence and memoranda; financial records; minutes of meetings; rosters and monthly reports of local posts and of the State Department; and correspondence and other records concerning veterans hospital aid and volunteer projects. Records of one of two Milwaukee councils of a fraternal and mutual benefit society for Americans of Polish ancestry. Council 8 was formed in 1905, composed of seven individual PNA lodges in the southern part of Milwaukee County. Records include two volumes of minutes of meetings (1921-1937); one volume of receipts and disbursements (1932-1972); a volume recording contributions to the Home Building Fund from the early 1920s; and a volume of receipts and disbursements of the Council's Alliance Home, purchased in 1942 for use as a meeting hall. Other records consist of miscellaneous Council receipts and programs, and files of the Alliance Home. Council 115 was formed in 1905, to represent six individual PNA lodges in the northern part of Milwaukee County. The collection documents the council's various civic, patriotic, and educational events, such as Polish classes, a choir, and recruiting and fund drive efforts during World War II. Records of a Milwaukee lodge formed in 1912, the Sons of Polish Pioneers, which for many years was open only to native born sons of Polish pioneers. Included are a minute book, registration books, cash books, administrative and committee records, insurance records, general financial documents, newsclippings, eulogies, obituaries, and funeral records of deceased members. The papers were collected by former lodge president Roman B.J. Kwasniewski, who was responsible for writing and delivering many of the eulogies. Most of the items are in Polish and date from the late 1920s to the late 1940s. Finding aid available in the Archives.

Records of the Milwaukee Ladies Society, an all-female lodge of a national mutual benefit and fraternal organzation, comprised of businesswomen and wives of professionals and businessmen. Included in the collection are a copy of the articles of incorporation (1934), a minute book, written in Polish (1942-1953) and English (1953-1968), and a case book (1968-1975).

Lodge 2201 was founded in 1934 by Anna Jaschowicz in protest against the exclusion of women from the all-male Lodge 2159 (Milwaukee Society). Many of the members of 2201 were wives of the members of 2159.Finding aid avaliable in Archives.

Records of the state, circuit, and local societies of the Union (Zjednoczenie Polskie Rzymsko Katolickie w Ameryce), the oldest and largest Polish Catholic fraternal organization in the United States. State records include anniversary and convention programs; there are also anniversary programs for Circuit No. 6. Also contains cash books, minute books, and reports on finances, insurance, and membership, for the four local societies: St. Anne Group No. 781; St. Clara Group No. 1218; St. Dorothy Group No. 526; and St. Florentine Group No. 591. The materials document the World War II relief efforts and assistance given to Polish war refugees by the group. Included are a few personal items of Leona Szczerbiak.
