- Papers of a Milwaukee druggist, consisting of correspondence and lists of specimens
relating to his collection of minerals and fossils presented to Milwaukee-Downer College

- Records of a commission whose purpose was to develop statements of stratigraphic
principles; review problems and to recommend procedures applying to classification and
nomenclature of stratigraphic and related areas. A number of individuals, including
Charles Deiss, Norman Lasca, Steve Oriel, John B. Patton created or compiled the
collection. Most of the collection consists of general files (1948-1989), arranged
chronologically, containing correspondence, minutes of meetings, and reports of the NACSN.
The general files document annual meetings of the commission; the development and
revisions of the stratigraphic code; activities of subcommittees; and the writing of the
Commissions published notes and reports. The collection also contains extensive files of
the Code Committee (1977-1983) which coordinated a complete revision of the code. The Code
Committee files include scattered records of its subcommittees. The records of the
Quaternary Advisory Group contain correspondence, minutes of meetings, and reports
concerning terminology and stratigraphic principles and applications of Quaternary
stratigraphic concepts. Finding aid available in the

- Papers of Henry S. Reuss, Democratic representative of Wisconsin's Fifth Congressional District in the House of
Representatives from 1954 through his retirement in 1982. The papers, documenting his political
career and legislative interests, consist of records of his Milwaukee field office and his congressional
office in Washington, D.C. The Milwaukee records contain correspondence, memoranda, subject
files, and family records. Subjects documented include community groups and issues, public relations,
transportation policy and urban redevelopment. The Washington records document his legislative
interests, including banking, economics, civil rights, conservation, transportation and urban renewal.
Public relations files contain campaign materials, press releases, speech transcripts, travel files, voting
records and publications by Reuss. The papers also document his service on several House

- Milwaukee Manuscript Collection 119 and Milwaukee Micro Collection 59
- Records, mainly 1971-1972, of a nature education center owned by the National Audubon Society in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and of the local citizens group, Citizens for the Nine Mile Farm Nature Center, which worked to
establish the center in 1972. Included is extensive correspondence (some also available on microfilm) between members of the
citizens group, the National Audubon Society, and members of the Uihlein family, which owned the property, and their lawyers;
legal documents; notes; minutes; newspaper clippings and scrapbooks (only available on microfilm); planning documents; and
photographs. More recent material consists of brochures, schedules, and advertising; an incomplete run of the Center's
newsletter; and correspondence of Winifred Woodmansee and her files on the Education Committee of the Friends of the
Schlitz Audubon Center. Finding aid available in the Archives.

- UWM Archival Collection 31
- Records, mostly dating from the 1960s and 1970s, containing correspondence, and faculty and departmental
meeting minutes concerning staffing, equipment and space needs, and curriculum development. The collection also contains
minutes of the Ad Hoc Committee on Urban Geography, which studied the courses offered in Urban Geography and the
department's possible cooperation with other UWM departments in their urban projects. Reports and correspondence in the
graduate program files document the department's attempts to establish a masters program and a doctoral program at UWM.
The collection contains some reports about the federally funded NDEA Institute for Advanced Study in Geography, which
introduced field geography to teachers of geography in grades 4-12. The Institute was held on UWM's campus and directed by
UWM faculty and staff. The only item predating 1955 is Louise W. Mears' 1923 pamphlet, "Around Milwaukee" : Land and
Lake as a Laboratory, written while she was a geography teacher at the State Normal School in Milwaukee.

- The Wetlands for Wildlife Papers consist primarily of incoming and outgoing correspondence, arranged in
chronological order, concerning the organization, its purposes and membership requests. Also included are several folders of
miscellaneous unsorted business papers consisting mainly of by-laws, mimeographed reports of various conservation
committees and meetings and material concerning the Milwaukee Sports Show booth. Finding aid
