ABSTRACT: Consists of seven oral history interviews conducted in 1990 with Jewish merchants and their descendants who were active on Milwaukee's Polish south. Interviews contain information on inter-ethnic relations, anti-semitism, the experience of Jewish immigrants, and conducting business with immigrant clientele. Transcripts, although not complete, exist for each interview.

ACCESS RESTRICTIONS:There are no access restrictions on the materials, and the collection is open to all members of the public in accordance with state law. However, the researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel, privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection (Wisconsin Statutes 19.21-19.39).

ARRANGEMENT: Box 1 contains the transcripts, arranged by name of interviewee; box 2 contains the audio cassette tapes.

HISTORICAL NOTE: This oral history project was conducted by Robert Mink as part of a graduate level history class under the instruction of Michael Gordon at the University of Wisconsin--Milwaukee. The interviews were conducted from June to September 1990.
