ABSTRACT: Records of an organization (mainly 1969-1977) dedicated to sponsoring and managing events and teams involved in the sport of curling. The collection documents the administration of committees, the design and construction of a new curling facility in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, relations with the Ozaukee Country Club, and the merger with the Ozaukee Curling Club. Also included are copies of North American Curling News, yearbooks of club members, records of the kilties (women's curling team), a history of the club written in 1981, and photographs of banquets and tournament winners.


ACCESS RESTRICTIONS: There are no access restrictions on the materials, and the collection is open to all members of the public in accordance with state law. However, the researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel, privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection (Wisconsin Statutes 19.21-19.39).

ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY: James Murray organized the Milwaukee Curling Club in 1846. Milwaukee joined the Grand National Curling Club of America in 1867, the first of many associations which the Club was affiliated, and played with teams from Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Chicago. The club incorporated in 1938. In 1970, the club merged with the Ozaukee Curling Club and moved to the Ozaukee Country Club, a permanent indoor facility.

ACQUISITION: The Milwaukee Curling Club donated the collection to the Archives in February 1996 (accession number 95-040).
