ACCESS RESTRICTIONS: There are no access restrictions on the materials, and the collection is open to all members of the public in accordance with state law. ARRANGEMENT:  This collection is arranged into the following series. Indexing terms were assigned using the Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division's Thesaurus for Graphic Materials.

Series 1: Wisconsin. This series is arranged alphabetically by municipality. City of Milwaukee postcards are further arranged by proper name, subject, or genre (e.g., bird's-eye views and cityscapes). 

Series 2: United States (Not Including Wisconsin). This series is alphabetically arranged by state and then by municipality.

Series 3: International (Not Including United States). This series is alphabetically arranged by nation. Especially large sets of postcards for individual nations are further arranged by municipality.

Processing of the collection continues, and additional series will be added as necessary.

ACQUISITION:  Thomas Bliffert donated the first set of postcards to the Archives in September 1998. He donated multiple additions to the collection in following years.

PROCESSING:  Christel Maass processed the collection at the Archives in summer 2001. Amelia Klem processed the collection from fall 2001-fall 2004. Brian Halling processed additions to the collection in fall 2005.
