ABSTRACT: A history of the Italian American community in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
from the 1860s to the 1930s, attributed to the Reverend Salvatore Tagliavia, pastor of Our
Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Kenosha, Wisconsin (1956-1966). The history describes
various aspects of the Milwaukee Italian community including education, employment,
health, housing patterns, mutual benefit societies, and religion.
