ABSTRACT: The Wetlands for Wildlife Papers consist primarily of incoming and outgoing correspondence, arranged in chronological order, concerning the organization, its purposes and membership requests. Also included are several folders of miscellaneous unsorted business papers consisting mainly of by-laws, mimeographed reports of various conservation committees and meetings and material concerning the Milwaukee Sports Show booth.
ACCESS RESTRICTIONS: There are no access restrictions on the materials, and the collection is open to all members of the public in accordance with state law. However, the researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel, privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection (Wisconsin Statutes 19.21-19.39).
ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY: Wetlands for Wildlife, Inc. was founded on October 12, 1960, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as a non-profit, charitable organization with national scope. The purpose of the corporation was to solicit funds to acquire suitable wetlands, which will be transferred to federal or state agencies for exclusively public purpose to maintain and manage, to provide breeding, rearing, growing and holding or wintering spots for waterfowl, birds, fish, deer and fur-bearing animals, flowers, trees, shrubs, aquatic vegetation and other wildlife benefits that may accure.
The founders of Wetlands for Wildlife included Ben L. Boalt of Cederburg, William Frankfurth of Wauwatosa, Owen J. Gromme of Milwaukee, Arthur Molstad of Milwaukee, and Richard C. Bonner of Grafton.
