ABSTRACT: Collection contains a sampling of the court cases of the Municipal Court for Milwaukee County from 1930-1938. The cases involve charges of larceny, rape, forgery, adultery, burglary, murder, sodomy and abandonment of children. The type of records contained in the collection are transcripts of the court proceedings, subpoenas, application for pardons, waiver of trial by jury, order of court suspending sentence, receipts of transfer of the convicted person to prison, capias, judgement rolls and affidavits. The collection represents a 3% sampling of the total cases that were conducted during this period and have been retained for their evidential value. The materials have been left in their original folders and are generally arranged in case file number.

ACCESS RESTRICTIONS:There are no access restrictions on the materials, and the collection is open to all members of the public in accordance with state law. However, the researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel, privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection (Wisconsin Statutes 19.21-19.39).

ACCESSION: An unknown donor sent the records to the Golda Meir Library before 1989. The Wisconsin Historical Society accessioned the records in August 1992 (accession number C1992/51).
