Subject Listing: Civil War |

Towards the end of the Civil War soldiers underwent medical
examinations as a precursor to obtaining pension benefits. The above record, dated April
10, 1865, details the examination of Andrew J. Boyington, a private in Company
"H" of the 13th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment. In 1864, Boyington was wounded
and had to have surgery to amputate a portion of
his left arm.
