Digital Spatial DataElection
A few election, or voting pattern, datasets are available for GIS analysis. The map at left showing a ratio of the votes for the Democrat Governor candidate to the votes for the Republican Governor candidate in 2002 - darker blue means more votes for the Democrat candidate and darker red means more votes for the Republican candidate. WI 2004 Election Data (web site , CD) This dataset created by the Wisconsin Dept. of Administration includes 2004 election data, which were obtained from the State Election Board. The Census data included in the dataset describe basic population characteristics, such as the number of voting age adults and racial group population, and the election data describe the number of people who voted for a variety of candidates. The census & election data file (Excel format) and ward boundary files (shapefiles) come separately, but can be joined to be used for mapping/GIS analysis. The dataset is available for downloading and the AGSL also archives ready-to-use data (joined shapefiles) in a CD.
