Digital Spatial DataUS Census
CTPP - Census Transportation Planning Package CTPPs are special tabulations designed for transportation analysis. Publicly-available digital CTPP files are only available for 1990 & 2000. Prior to 1990, CTPP was known as "journey-to-work" data and are available for public as a printed format and as a part of census special report series. Check local holding using "census" and "journey-to-work" as a keyword, or ask local governments which might have electronic data tapes. Part 1 data include characteristics of residents similar to census summary files. Part 2 data include characteristics of workers = population characteristics are tabulated by work place not by residential place. Part 3 data include characteristics of commuters and commuting flows. For transportation planners, Part 3 usually gives the most valuable information - however, Part 3 data users should be aware of the fact that some cases for detailed variables might have been suppressed due to too few cases. Available geographic levels vary depending on year and area. For the Milwaukee metropolitan area, the smallest available CTPP geography is census block group.
