March 21, 2004
Dear Sir or Madam:
The student employees
of Student Technology Services (STS) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
are pleased to announce the fifth annual conference of its kind, "Innovations for a Dynamic Tomorrow."
The conference will
be organized and hosted entirely by the student leaders of STS. It will
be held June 24-25, 2004 on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
STS is a highly organized
student workforce that delivers quality technology services to the UW-Milwaukee
campus community. To supplement their classroom education, we seek to
empower our student employees through professional development and technical
on-the-job training. By participating in the STS program, students - regardless
of academic major - are empowered with the technical and professional
skills required to successfully perform their work at STS today and in
the technology workforce of tomorrow. Please visit the main STS website
at http://www.uwm.edu/IMT/STS/
and our conference website at http://www.stsconference.uwm.edu.
The students of STS
believe that their success can be your success! We are hosting this conference
to show how an organization such as ours can be replicated at your institution.
STS is also anxious to hear of other successful models or strategies of
organizing and developing student IT workers.
Please submit a
maximum 100 word proposal describing your topic, including the benefits
it has
or could have for student technology workers. Submissions will be selected
for a fifty-minute presentation and discussion. E-mail is the preferred
method for submissions of presentations. The deadline for submissions
is May 24, 2004. The STS Conference Committee will review all submissions
and final selections of proposals will be made by May 28, 2004. You
will be contacted at that time and asked to submit any handouts for
participants.
STS will make the appropriate arrangements for your presentation such
as copies and audio-visual needs. If you have any questions, email
the
STS Conference Committee at conferenceteam@uwm.edu.
Please include the
following with your proposal:
