Magayne-Roshak Receives Classified Staff Outstanding Service Award
I&MT’s Alan Magayne-Roshak was among those honored at the annual Fall Awards Ceremony on October 7. He was selected to receive a Represented Classified Staff Outstanding Service Award. The article below highlights why he was chosen for the well-deserved honor:

“As a university photographer and supervisor in Visual Imaging, Alan Magayne-Roshak has made UWM look good for more than 30 years.

“He has won scores of professional awards for his work, including many in the annual University Photographers Association competition. Last year, the School of Architecture and Urban Planning hosted an exhibit of his photos in a show called “Less Is Less - The ’70s: A Decade of Demolition (in Milwaukee).” The exhibit received coverage in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and in a recent issue of Milwaukee Lifestyle magazine.

“In addition to photography and administrative duties, Magayne-Roshak coordinated the department’s move to Sabin Hall two years ago, managing both the design of the new space and the dismantling of the former office in Mitchell Hall, which had been the department’s home for 30-some years. All of this was done without interrupting normal department operations, and despite a concurrent reduction in staff.

“Magayne-Roshak’s commitment to the job shows. He has accumulated more than 2,000 hours of sick leave, and has even lost vacation time because of work demands.” (from www.uwm.edu/News/PR/03.10/2003_Awards.html)

Staff Departures
Uffe Schultz, Administrative Applications Solutions, will be leaving I&MT as of October 17 and returning to his homeland of Denmark.

Staff Recognition Program
“You Make the Difference” is a new staff recognition program within I&MT. The program allows colleagues as well as clients to recognize positive, outstanding staff performance. The recognition program is part of a grass-roots “Positive People” team that fosters positive staff–focused events and programs for I&MT employees.

To nominate an I&MT staff member for recognition, simply fill out a printed card (available in most I&MT building locations), or submit an online form at www.recognize.uwm.edu.

One person is selected as “Employee of the Month” from those nominated for that month. The winner receives a choice of a gift such as use of an in-car meter, tickets to a Panther sporting event, etc. Selected as the first “Employee of the Month” for September 2003 was Laurie Schultz (photo above).

The recognition program is funded by contributions.
