Rhetorical Leadership Essays

"Educating Rhetorical Leaders"

This essay explains why a thorough humanities-based rhetorical leadership education, such as UWM offers, is essential to preparing citizens for contemporary challenges, whatever the area in which they are called upon to lead. A rhetorical leadership program helps level the playing field by empowering those with fewer social privileges to develop a critically reflexive perspective, skills, and sensibilities to lead for the common good.

“Rhetorical Leadership in Framing a Supportive Social Climate for Educational Reforms”

This essay illustrates how practically useful understanding one basic concept from rhetoric, inherency, can be to leaders outside the field of Communication. The case example is education reform, but the principle applies to policy decisions of all types.
