BICYCLE SAFETY AND INFORMATION

Bicycle Safety:

  • Always lock your bike, even when you will only gone for a minute! 

  • Most bicycles stolen are not even locked!

  • While on campus, do not lock your bike to stairways, poles or trees, always lock your bicycle to the bike rack.

  • Secure your bicycle in garages, especially in backyards.

  • Always wear a helmet.

  • Ride defensively, watch cars and especially doors.

  • Learn, use and obey traffic safety signals.

  • Be Visible when riding at night, use reflectors and a lighting system.

Bicycle Registration:

  • You can come to our department and pick up a silver City of Milwaukee bicycle license.  

  • To activate the registration of your bicycle, log on to:

  • You will need:

The bicycle license number (the number on the license)

The frame serial number (located on the on the frame, top of seat tube, head tube, drop out crank, bottom bracket, bottom of chaninstay)

Color of bicycle (majority color)

Tire size

Type

Make of bicycle (Huffy, Trek, etc.)

Personal Information (required: Last name, First name, middle initial, date of birth, address of bicycle owner) (optional: phone number and email address.)

  • Registration is FREE!

  • Registration is valid for as long as you own your bicycle.

  • To register a bicycle that has previously been licensed:

You will need:

The serial number of the bicycle,  Previous owner's bicycle license number and their Last and First name. Log on to the registration website and follow the directions.
