The purpose of the Alcohol Diversion Program is to reduce underage consumption
of alcohol on and around the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus. Reduce
incidents of underage drinking violations by providing underage consumers with
information about their alcohol use patterns. This voluntary program will
inform underage consumers about the effects of alcohol use on those close to
them, the personal effects of alcohol use, and explain the effect of their
underage alcohol use on the community in which they live. Finally, the Alcohol
Diversion Program will help participants develop an individualized plan to
reduce or eliminate their use of alcohol.
This program will be available to individuals with no prior arrests or
convictions through the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for prior underage
possession or consumption of alcohol. Alcohol Diversion Program participants
must be between the ages of 18-20 and may or may not be University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee students.
There will be two sessions that must be completed in order to receive a
certificate of completion of the Alcohol Diversion Program. The completion of
the Alcohol Diversion Program will provide attendee with a certificate that
will result in dismissal of the citation when presented to the court
commissioner.
