Advanced CorePower Yoga—This class is designed for students who already have a developed yoga practice and wish to deepen this practice. Advanced yoga will follow a format similar to that of the intermediate level class, while adding some more challenging, advanced level poses. The Advanced class will have a greater focus on difficult inversions, arms balances, backbends and pranayama (breathing technique). Instructor consent will be required for enrollment. Class limit 30.
Beginner CorePower Yoga— Interested in examining body alignment, looking to increase strength, flexibly, balance and concentration? Look no further. No previous experience is required, both breathing techniques and the proper body alignment for each pose will be explained thoroughly. You will learn to connect breath and movement to create a gentle flowing yoga practice. Class limit 30.
Boot Camp—Burn calories, sculpt muscles, improve balance and agility all in one workout. Incorporates Intervals, athletic drills and core conditioning. Class limit 35.

Core_Crunch—A 30 minute class designed to strengthen and tone your abdominal and lower back muscles. Challenge your core like never before! Class limit 35.
Guts & Butts– Want to firm it up? Then get to the class that focuses on exercises for the abs and lower body. We’ll utilize a variety of fitness equipment to tone up those areas! Class limit 35.
Hip Hop Cardio—A cardio workout focusing on hip-hop choreography, creative dance moves and aerobic techniques. Have fun getting in shape while moving to the hottest new music! Class limit 40.

Intermediate CorePower Yoga—This class is open to all levels of students, but will be conducted at an intermediate level. Alignment will be explained thoroughly while the class maintains a flowing paced. It will be taught using techniques based in both Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga. This class will take an athletic approach to yoga, which follows the flow of breath through a sequence of interweaving asana’s. We will open class with a series of Sun Salutations and include balancing and core strengthening postures. The vigorous pace and challenging sequence create a great workout for the entire body, increasing both strength and flexibility. You’ll work up a sweat but leave feeling calm, energized and powerful. Class limit 30.

Stretch & Tone—Full body stretching and alternating focus from upper body, lower body and core conditioning exercises using one’s own weight, free weights, resistance bands, and some partner exercises. Class limit 35.
Zumba– An aerobic dance class full of Latin and other exotic music flavors. Features aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and work the gluteus, legs, arms, abdominals, and the most important muscle of the body… the HEART! The sexy and explosive Latin rhythms create a party-like atmosphere that delivers results. Class limit 40.

Class Admittance Policies:
+All participants must check-in with ID at the Information Center (no sooner than 30 minutes prior to the class start) to obtain pass for class.
+Participants must present a pass to the class instructor to obtain access to class. No participants will be admitted in a class without a pass.
+Class passes are granted on a first come, first server basis. Class limits are noted by the class descriptions. Other Policies:
+Be on time. Anyone arriving more then 5 minutes after the start of class may not be admitted.
+Do not enter exercise area before the current class is finished.
+Please secure all personal belongings in a locker. No bags, coats or other personal belongings allowed in the exercise areas.
+Please wear comfortable, athletic clothing, clean, non-marking sole shoes and bring a water bottle to class.
Instructional Classes
The instructional program is designed to meet the needs of individuals or groups that will need emergency training or simply enjoy learning in a non-credit environment. Classes that are offered focus primarily on American Red Cross Training Programs and will follow ARC standards.
Swim Lessons: Level 1: 4 yrs old – help students to feel more comfortable in the water. (No experience at all) Level 2: Give students success with introduction of fundamental skills. (Skills w/o support) Level 3: Build on skills through additional practice. (Introduce Breast & Dolphin Kick) Level 4: Develops confidence in skills learned and improve other aquatic skills. (All strokes) Level 5: Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes. (Advanced stroke critique)

Adult CPR/AED:
You will learn how to perform rescue breathing, clear an obstructed airway, perform one-rescuer CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest.

Lifeguard Training:
You will learn surveillance skills to help you recognize and prevent injuries, Rescue skills – in the water and on land, First aid training and professional rescuer CPR/AED – to help you prepare for an emergency, and Professional lifeguard responsibilities like interacting with the public and addressing uncooperative patrons.

All of our energetic staff are certified American Red Cross Instructors. The majority of our instructor’s have years of experience teaching CPR, lifeguard classes, swim lessons and working with children and people of all ages, and all but the full time staff members are UWM Students. Every instructor puts student learning first and will be involved with education as a lifelong profession. With student to teacher ratios of 1 to 3 at levels 1, 2, & 3, and ratios not exceeding 1 to 5 at levels 4 & 5, we can offer the best individualized attention with a very fun and enjoyable learning environment.

Water Ventures
The Water Ventures Program offers a great environment for children’s swim lessons featuring effective, fun, small class sizes. We also offer Individual adult swim lessons and for the already advances swimmer put your flippers on and become certified in scuba! Age restrictions do apply; please confirm proper age for course prior to enrollment.

Parent and Child: This class is designed for children 6 months to 4 years old who are not yet ready to be in swim lessons without a parent. The program builds swimming readiness while emphasizing fun in the water. Parents & children participate in several guided practice sessions that help children learn elementary skills, including bubble blowing, front & back kicking & floating and experience underwater exploration and more.
Level 1 Introduction to Water Skills: Children must be at least 4 years old to participate. This class is designed to help students feel comfortable in the water and learn a variety of fundamental skills such as arm and leg movements, floats, and blowing bubbles. Participants will learn how to:
• Enter and exit water safely
• Submerge mouth (head) independently
• Exhale underwater through mouth and nose
• Open eyes underwater, pick up submerged object at least 2 times
• Float on front and back with support
• Swim on front and back using arm/leg actions
• Rollover front to back, back to front w/support
• Treading – explore arm and hand movements in chest-deep water
• Follow basic water safety rules, helping others
• Use a life jacket
Level 2 Fundamental Aquatic Skills: Children will learn how to swim independently with the fundamental skills learned in Level 1. They should be comfortable submerging their head and being in the water by themselves. Participants will learn how to:
• Enter water independently, jumping from the side, in chest deep water
• Exit water safely using ladder or side
• Swim on side
• Submerge entire head, at least 5 seconds
• Rhythmic pattern of exhaling while head is submerged (bobs)
• Open eyes underwater, pick up a submerged object, at least 3 times in shallow water
• Float on front and back unsupported
• Perform front and back glide, unsupported
• Roll over from front to back, back to front
• Swim on front and back using combined strokes, at least 15 feet unsupported
• Treading using arms and legs unsupported in chest-deep water
• Water safety rules, helping others, swim while wearing a life jacket
Level 3 Stroke Development: Children will build on the skills learned from Level 2. Students should be able to swim on their own with out the support of the instructor. This level is designed to further develop strokes through additional guided practice. Participants will learn how to:
• Jump into deep water from the side
• Dive from kneeling or standing position, in water at least 9 feet deep
• Perform front & back float at least 30 seconds
• Submerge and retrieve an object
• Bob with the head fully submerged, chest deep
• Perform front & back glide w/2 different kicks
• Use rotary breathing in horizontal position
• Perform front and back crawl, 15 yards
• Butterfly - kick and body motion, 15 feet
• Perform the HELP and Huddle position
• Change from horizontal to vertical position on front and back
• Water safety rules, perform a reaching assist
Level 4 Stroke Improvement: Students will develop the confidence, endurance, and strength to improve skills learned in previous levels. They will be introduced to new aquatic skills such as the butterfly, turns, and surface dives. Participants will learn how to:
• Shallow dive or dive from stride position, in at least 9 feet of water
• Swim underwater, 3 body lengths
• Front and back float, survival float, 1 minute
• Perform feet-first surface dive
• Perform open turn on front/back using any stroke
• Tread water using sculling arm motions and various kick, 1 minute
• Use safe diving rules, water safety rules, perform a throwing assist
• Care for conscious choking victim
• Perform compact jump a height while wearing a life jacket
• Perform the following:
o Front and back crawl, 25 yards
o Breaststroke & Elementary backstroke, 15 yards
o Butterfly, 15 yards
o Swim on side w/scissors kick, 15 yards
Level 5 Stroke Refinement: Students will continue to further their coordination and refinement of the different strokes learned in Level 4. They should be able to perform front and back crawl proficiently and will be swimming further distances. Participants will learn how to:
• Tread water w/ two different kicks, 2 minutes
• Learn survival swimming, 2 minutes
• Survival floating, 2 minutes
• Water safety, helping others, rescue breathing
• Perform the following:
o Standing dive, Shallow dive, glide two
body lengths and begin any front stroke
o Sidestroke, elementary backstroke 25 yds
o Tuck & pike surface dive
o Front and back flip turns
o Front and back crawl, 50 yards
o Butterfly, breaststroke 25 yards
Level 6 Swimming and Skills Proficiency: Students will refine the strokes they learned in previous levels. They will be able to swim them with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. This level is designed with 4 different class options that each focus on preparing students to participate in more advanced courses. Options will be determined before the start of a session. These options include:
• Personal Water Safety
• Lifeguard Readiness
• Fundamentals of Diving
• Fitness Swimmer
All options include the these endurance skills and turns:
o Front and back crawl, 100 yards
o Breaststroke, 50 yards
o Sidestroke and butterfly, 50 yards
o Elementary backstroke, 50 yards
o All open turns and flip turns while using swimming strokes

General Rules
General rules & Regulations
·Children under 4 years of age are not allowed into the Dept. of Recreational Sports and facilities except during sponsored programs or events.
·Facility users are required to show a current UWM picture ID card or Dept. of Recreational Sports and facilities membership card to gain entrance to the Center.
·An altered or misused ID/Membership card will be confiscated and the owner of the card will be referred to the Dean of Students or Director of the Dept. of Recreational Sports and facilities and/or University Police.
·Acceptable rules of conduct must be observed at all times (subject to supervisors’ discretion).
·Violation of rules included here or of other posted policies, any disorderly conduct, lewd or lascivious behavior or other inappropriate behavior, including verbal or physical abuse of an employee or other user, will result in immediate removal from center with possible loss of building privileges.
·Persons using the facilities must wear gym shoes and appropriate activity attire. Normal street shoes and clothes are unacceptable. Dark-soled athletic shoes are allowed in the track area and weight room only.
·No bicycles are allowed in the building. Bike racks are provided on the West Side of the building.
·Dept. of Recreational Sports and facilities staff must approve posters for facility bulletin boards.
·No spitting, except in proper receptacle. (spit sinks are located at the north and south ends of the arena next to the water fountains, also located in the weight room and Combatives gym.
·The following equipment/activities are not permitted during open recreation or unused reserved athletic times: Archery, Badminton, Football, Lacrosse, Baseball, Golf, Rugby, Soccer, Softball and Frisbee. Hacky sac is permitted under the following circumstances: - Allowed only at the discretion of the supervisor on duty. - The activity listed is performed on arena court numbers 2 or 5. - These activities are not permitted on the track area (outside the netting system) when there are runners on the track.
·Everyone must be out of the building 20 minutes after all activity areas have closed individuals who abuse this policy may be subject to loosing building privileges.
·NO FOOD, CHEWING GUM, SMOKING OR CHEWING OF TOBACCO OR ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING.
·Drink/liquids are permitted ONLY if in plastic sport drink bottles or covered re-useable mug. NO GLASS OR SODA CANS PERMITTED.
·No skateboards, roller skates or roller blades permitted.
·No loitering allowed.
·The use of video or photo equipment in the facility is strictly prohibited, unless an administrative staff member has granted prior approval. Individuals being videotaped must give written consent prior to being videotaped.
·Personal audio devices are not allowed unless used with a headset.
·No sport activities or bouncing of balls allowed in hallways.
·Dept. of Recreational Sports and facilities Supervisors have full authority to ask participants to leave the facility if their conduct necessitates such action (e.g. hanging from basketball rims, dropping weights, refusing to wear eye guards in racquetball courts, etc.). Should you ever need to file a complaint concerning a Recreation Supervisor, please report your concern personally to the Director, Rm. 222, (414) 229-3809.
·Any person attempting to obtain illegal entry will be denied any form of entry to the building (whether that individual has a valid UWM student ID card or current Dept. of Recreational Sports and facilities membership card with them or not) for at least that day. ANY PERSON ASSISTING IN PERMITTING AN INDIVIDUAL TO ENTER ILLEGALLY WILL ALSO BE DENIED ENTRY FOR THAT DAY. Student ID cards/membership cards will be confiscated if used improperly.
·ACTIVITIES OR BEHAVIOR NOT COVERED BY RULES WILL BE INTERPRETED AT THE MANAGEMENT'S DISCRETION.
In the absence of an Administrative Staff member, the Building Supervisor will make interpretation. ·Injuries, Emergencies, and Loss of Personal Property:
UW-Milwaukee is not responsible for injuries sustained by members, guests, or observers, or for lost or stolen property while participating in or observing activities in the Klotsche Center. It is the responsibility of the individual to cover the cost of all personal injuries and losses. Any injuries sustained and losses or thefts should be reported to the Information Center immediately, an accident report form should be filled out and, in the case of theft, Campus Police notified. The cost of ambulance service is the responsibility of the injured party.

1. Showers are provided for recreational users of the Klotsche Center. Acceptable rules of conduct must be observed at all times (interpreted at management's discretion). 2. Street shoes are not allowed in the shower rooms.
Saunas
1. It is expected that participants follow acceptable rules of conduct behavior (interpreted at management's discretion).
2. No shaving allowed while in the sauna.
3. No soap, shampoo, conditioner or oils.
4. The saunas are dry saunas; pouring water over the heating elements is strictly forbidden.
5. No reading material.
6. No drying of clothes in the sauna.
