As of June 30, 2004, dot.edu no longer offers eLearning services, and has closed its doors, having successfully completed its mission: proof of concept for the effectiveness of centralized infrastructure to provide robust and up-to-date eLearning -- including technology, training, support, and instructional design – and to apply these resources to enhance education.

dot.edu has been considered a pioneer and a visionary for its unique extension of the Application Service Provider (ASP) model in “education serving education,” providing infrastructure and resources to educational institutions both within and outside the University of Wisconsin System.

The success of dot.edu was made possible through powerful partnerships and innovative solutions to the issues faced by educational institutions everywhere. These partnerships remain the authentic key to empowering education through the opportunities that become available when institutions collaborate.
