In Professor Moore's faculty development plan (submitted and approved in February 1996), he indicated that in addition to continuing to teach Arch 585/Research Methods and Arch 751/Theories of EB Relations each year in alternating semesters, he looked forward to developing and offering one or two new courses at the 500, 600, or 700 levels in the Department of Architecture.
In the spring of 1995, he taught a no-load seminar on Children, Youth, and Built Environments (that is, the students received credit, but he did it as an overload). Now we would like to build that seminar into a regular 500-level seminar for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students.
To this end, he proposes, as part of his 1997-98 sabbatical, to develop the syllabus for such a course based on the results and inputs from all of the other activities in this plan. In this way, the proposed 1997-98 sabbatical can have a direct impact on departmental courses and curriculum and on student learning by integrating scholarship and instruction.
