Mission

To facilitate the delivery of essential infrastructure services to the University and its constituent members in a manner consistent with the University's best interests and the Division's core values.

Vision

To be the very best administrative unit among those in the finest research institutions, adding value to UWM, the greater Milwaukee region, UW System and State of Wisconsin.

Goals

In furtherance of our vision to be the very best administrative unit, we will focus on the following specific goals:

Develop and Adopt Systematic and Institutionalized Processes

  • Document existing policies, procedures and practices.
  • Implement business resumption planning.
  • Maximize use of technology, including fully leveraging the capabilities of enterprise systems.
  • Increase awareness and communication of process.
  • Incorporate consideration of stakeholder concerns in development of process.

Enhance the Human Resource

  • Improve personnel practices in order to hire and retain the highest quality personnel possible.
  • Promote professional development, which should include training on technology, substantive/professional training on the job, and training on core values.
  • Improve workplace safety.
  • Enhance employee morale.
  • Adopt professional practices.
  • Communicate Division standards to employees.
  • Strive for more diversity among employees.

Provide Exemplary Service

  • Develop and implement measures of client/customer satisfaction, including but not limited to surveys.
  • Adopt division-wide "best practices" in client/customer service, and train employees on these.
  • Define the "client" and "customer" broadly; that is, adopt an open attitude about who the client/customer is.
  • Adopt a problem-solving orientation that works to identify options for resolving concerns or issues.
  • Avoid missed opportunities to provide service.
  • Treat all people who come into contact with the division with dignity and respect.

Manage Budget and Finances Responsibly

  • Ensure fiscal integrity and transparency of the campus budget process.
  • Create a fiscally stable environment and plan for the future, including unexpected needs.
  • Strive for an appropriate balance between providing services efficiently, economically and in compliance with the rules.
  • Work for change in the regulatory environment where this will improve services.
  • Increase individual responsibility for finances.
  • Spend the Division's funds judiciously, in a way that maximizes resources and meets stakeholders' needs, and with a focus on the overall priorities and mission of the campus.

Improve and Enhance the Physical Environment

  • Use natural resources responsibly.
  • Improve the campus aesthetically.
  • Create more opportunities to meet space needs.
  • Achieve high standards of maintenance.
  • Create a safe, secure and accessible environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
  • Be a responsible member of the neighborhood.
  • Increase campus vibrancy and inclusiveness, providing for diverse interactions and opportunities.
