Peninsular literature; Hispanic culture and civilization; cultural history of Western Civilization; Spanish phonetics; Esperanto poetry and poetics; Esperantism in the Hispanic world; Esperanto biography; the life and art of Eugene Paul Ullman, American expatriate artist.

Active member of the UWM Faculty and Staff Christian Network; active member of Los Amigos de la Lengua, Milwaukee; consultant for the Great Books Roundtable.
