Research Interests: My main research interests lie in the area of the social indicators of the quality of life. In particular, I seek to identify the social-psychological predictors of personal well-being and the quality of life in various life domains (family, community, environment, etc.). I am also interested in exploring the social-psychological correlates of voluntary group membership and participation in different types of groups and organizations.

Teaching Interests: My instructional interests at the undergraduate level are focused on environmental sociology, social change, history of sociological theory and contemporary sociological theory, and religion and society. At the graduate level, I have regularly taught the courses on systematic sociological theory and social change and social evolution. I have also taught courses on social psychology (to both graduate and undergraduate students), inequality and social class, technology and society, and an honors seminar on the images of man.
