Child
Welfare Training Programs
Leading to a Masters of Social Work Degree
Overview
The Child Welfare
Training Program is designed to help public child welfare staff in Milwaukee
County earn the MSW degree. The program serves professional-level employees
in the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare (BMCW) and in lead vendor agencies
that contract with the Bureau to provide core child welfare services.
As of 2007, the service areas and organizations from which staff are eligible
to participate in the program are:
Phone Intake
and Initial Assessment (BMCW)
Safety Services (Children’s Family and Community Partnerships; La
Causa)
Ongoing Services (Children’s Family and Community Partnerships;
La Causa)
Out-of-Home Care and Adoptions (Children’s Service Society of Wisconsin)
Funds for the program, which began in 1993, are provided by the state
and by federal matching funds available under Title IV-E of the Social
Security Act.
Staff interested in applying for the program may choose between two main
components: a full-time and a part-time option. A full description of
each of these is available by clicking on either of the options below.
