SOIS IT Labs
At SOIS, one of the central areas of emphasis
is the pursuit of Information Technology (IT)
and defining the fundamentals that comprise that
area. One of the principle ways in which we achieve
this is through a "hands-on" approach,
where students are given access to computers and
various forms of IT systems in a lab setting.
Such access provides students with an opportunity
to accumulate experience with a variety of systems,
software, and environments. In the labs, students
can use networked PCs that are capable of demonstrating
and performing various online information services,
including the Internet, bibliographic references,
and a comprehensive network of CD-ROMs. The SOIS
IT labs are equipped with over 75 Pentium-level
microcomputers, with a spectrum of peripherals
(image setters, scanners, digital video cameras,
CD-ROM recorders, mass storage devices, etc.)
for use in such areas as multimedia imaging, desktop
publishing, online services, and automation.
General lab hours are Monday - Thursday, 8:00am
- 9:00pm and Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. For lab hours, please call 1-888-349-3432

Computer User Policy for SOIS
Computer Labs
"Computer usage and Internet access are valuable
resources intended for the pursuit of academic
endeavors. Non-academic use of the computers is
not allowed, especially usage that demands bandwidth
like streaming video or audio. Users who do not
comply with these policies will be asked to leave
the labs. Unauthorized downloading could cause
legal complications for the user, the school and
the university." Approved: November 21, 2003
