Dr. Olson organized a successful research retreat for SOIS faculty and teaching academic staff in January, 2008. At the one-day retreat, facilitated by Dr. Roma Harris, Vice-Provost (Academic Programs & Students) at the University of Western Ontario, faculty and staff listened to guest speakers discuss research support, trends in funding library and information science programs and research initiatives, and strategies for positioning SOIS as a leader in library and information science education. Dr. Olson also has published the following article:
