"The 'Interesting' Times of Intellectual Freedom"

On January 12, 2007, CIPR, the SWITCH Library Consortium, and UWM Libraries sponsored Judith Krug for a morning of professional development and intellectual enlightenment! Krug, the Director of the Office for Intellectual Freedom at the American Library Association, will outline the types of academic and intellectual freedom challenges facing institutions of higher education today; and address how this impacts academic libraries.

The Office for Intellectual Freedom is charged with implementing ALA policies concerning the concept of intellectual freedom as embodied in the Library Bill of Rights, the Association's basic policy on free access to libraries and library materials. The goal of the office is to educate librarians and the general public about the nature and importance of intellectual freedom in libraries.
