MA English / MLIS
The MA English/MLIS Program consists of 51 credits,
of which 21 credits must be in English. The MA
English program offers five different plans of
study:
Plan A: Literary Studies
Plan B: Rhetoric and Composition
Plan C: Literature and creative Writing
Plan D: English Language & Linguistics
Plan E: Modern Studies
Plan G: Professional Writing
Courses must be approved by the Coordinator of
Graduate Studies in English.
This program is designed to prepare students
to work in academic and research libraries as
well as large public libraries as humanities librarians
and bibliographers who are often called upon to
manage divisions or special collections in such
libraries.
The UWM Library Special Collections, 20th Century
Collection, Shakespeare Collection, and the Roosevelt
Collection, provide unique fieldwork opportunities
for students in this program. Other local special
collections in the Milwaukee Public Library and
the Marquette University Memorial Library are
also available.
