MLIS
- Graduation
Students must be registered for classes in the
semester of graduation. If they are not taking
coursework during that semester they must register
for course 540-888, "Candidate for Degree,"
which has a one-credit fee.
Checking the "Degree Candidacy (Graduation)"
box on the registration form does not constitute
an application for graduation. The application
form for graduation may be obtained from the Graduate
School. It is to be submitted to the Graduate
School along with a $40.00 fee in the first two
weeks of the semester.
UWM has two graduation ceremonies: mid-December
and mid-May. SOIS encourages its students to participate
in their own graduation ceremony. Those who graduate
in August are eligible to participate in the ceremony
of the following December. The Secretary of the
University sends to graduation candidates information
regarding the commencement ceremony, and caps
and gowns.
Timely application for graduation places students
in contention for certain graduation honors such
as recommendation for membership in Beta Phi Mu,
the international honor society for the Library
and Information Science profession.
Please visit the Graduate School's website for
more information on graduation and for a link
to the application
for graduation.
