UWM Libraries - 4th Floor Conference Room
Peter Johan Lor has long been interested in the international dimensions of librarianship and information work. Since February of this year he has been Secretary General of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), and his academic interest in the subject has been overtaken by daily involvement in concrete issues in international library work. In this lecture he looks critically at what passes for "international librarianship" in the literature, explores the rationale and scope of the field, and outlines major themes that need to be addressed in contemporary studies in international librarianship.
