Community Violence Specialty Clinic

Project Ujima, a collaborative effort among Children's Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW), UWM, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and the Kujichagulia Lutheran Center, offers a wide array of services to adolescents who present to the CHW Emergency Room with assault-related injuries. Services also are extended to their family members. Clinical psychology graduate students from UWM provide the mental health component of Project Ujima.

The purpose of Project Ujima is to decrease the number of youth returning to the ER with injuries sustained in their communities. To that end, graduate student therapists work with Ujima clients on issues related to anger management, conduct problems, learning disabilities, and trauma exposure.
