Founded in 1535 and located 150 miles northeast of Montreal at the confluence of the Saint Lawrence and Saint Charles rivers, the city of Quebec is the capital of Quebec Province. This modern city with a population of over 500,000 has preserved its French character.
The Universite de Laval, founded in 1852, is the oldest French speaking institution of higher learning in North America. Currently situated just six kilometers from downtown Quebec City in Sainte-Foy, the university has a modern, 500 acre campus with excellent housing and teaching facilities.
