Housing Information


The organizers have arranged for two different housing options. The first is dormitory housing on the UW-Milwaukee campus. The second option is the Park East Hotel, which is a nice hotel about 2 miles from campus.

 

Sandburg Halls

Sandburg Residence Halls are a group of dormitories located a short 5 minute walk across campus from the Engineering and Mathematical Sciences Building (EMS)-site of the workshop.Several different options are available:

Single room-shared bath $38 per night-per room (non-air conditioned)

Double room-shared bath $46 per night-per room (non-air conditioned)

Single room-shared bath $49 per night-per room (air conditioned)

Double room-shared bath $68 per night-per room (air conditioned)

Temperatures are normally pleasant in Milwaukee in June with average daily highs of 75 and lows of 55. Under normal circumstances, air conditioning is not necessary. However, (as participants at previous workshops can attest) it can get hot in Milwaukee in June. In this case, fans can be checked out at the front desk, but the non-air conditioned rooms will be warm.

All rooms are organized into suites with four to five residents sharing a bath. Residents will be grouped into unisex suites. Suites in the newer air conditioned tower include a kitchen with range, microwave and refrigerator. Parking is available to all residents at a cost of $8.50 per day.

Park East Hotel (916 East State Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53202)

A limited number of rooms have been set aside at the Park East Hotel at a special rate of $65 per night for single or double occupancy. Please make your own reservations by calling (800)328-7275. Be sure to mention that you are attending the Topology Workshop at UW-Milwaukee. (You can also mention reservation number A1234A.)

The Park East does not supply an airport shuttle, but they will shuttle participants to and from the UW-Milwaukee campus which is approximately 2 miles from the Park East.
