We have three faculty members active in research in probability theory:
Each spring we offer a one semester graduate course in Probability Theory, Math 771, which has as its prerequisite basic measure theory. In the past almost all students in this course have already taken MathStat 761 and MathStat 762, UWM's basic one year course in Mathematical Statistics. This reflects the fact that most students at UWM are interested in Probability Theory because of the role that it plays in Mathematical Statistics.
We occasionally offer graduate level courses in Stochastic Processes (This link not active), usually under the course number Math 873. These courses vary in content.
We also offer a course each fall in stochastic processes at the graduate/undergraduate level, Introduction to Probability Models, numbered Math 571. Historically this course has covered Markov Chains, Simulation, and Option Pricing, and is designed for undergraduate Mathematics Majors interested in Applied Mathematics and Actuarial Science, as well as Masters level students in Statistics and Computer Science.
Undergraduates interested in a one semester course in probability should register form MathStat 361, as Math 471 is no longer offered on a regular basis.
The members of The Dynamical Systems Group have been known to offer courses in Ergodic Theory, so students interested in Probability Theory should check out course offerings there as well.
