SUSAN FIRER

DIANE GLANCY

This exhibit highlights the works of Susan Firer, Milwaukee-born poet and UWM English professor, and those of Diane Glancy, Native American author and Macalester College English professor. The works of both authors address issues of spirit, family, and personal identity that are deeply informed by heritage and culture: Firer by her Catholic upbringing, and Glancy by her mixed Cherokee/European ancestry.

Materials on display are drawn almost entirely from the comprehensive holdings of UWM Authors and Native American Literature in Special Collections at the Golda Meir Library.

Susan Firer and Diane Glancy gave readings from their work on December 4, 1999 at Woodland Pattern Literary Center, 720 East Locust Street, Milwaukee.
