The media studies submajor is for those students interested in exploring the mass media as a cultural and/or political force in contemporary society. Students in this submajor learn to write about and engage with various media forms critically while exploring media histories, media theories, and media law. Students learn to understand established and emerging media forms as industries, global technologies, and as powerful story-telling and meaning-making cultural institutions.
