Monitoring Wisconsin is a quarterly review of economic and social issues relevant to the state of Wisconsin. The premier issue of this newsletter was released in March 2004. Premier Issue (Spring 2004) In the premier issue of Monitoring Wisconsin, the article "Wisconsin's Labor Market: Cycle or Trend?" showed that the state's labor market suffered significant job losses as a result of the 2001 recession. It raised the question regarding the nature of these job losses and compares the state's experience with that of other states and the nation in general. |

The article "Growth Potential of Wisconsin's
New Economy" was presented in the second issue
Monitoring Wisconsin. In this article, it was
shown that manufacturing in Wisconsin had
outperformed its counterparts because of the
sector's investment in high technology which, in
turn, led to higher productivity.

Monitoring Wisconsin (Fall 2004) The main article in the Fall 2004 issue of of the ISPR Monitoring Wisconsin was contributed by Dr. Scott Adams of the Department of Economics at UW-Milwaukee. In the article Dr. Adams summarizes an ongoing research on living wage laws. |
Monitoring Wisconsin (Winter 2004) The fourth and final issue of 2004 featured an article on gowth strategies for small Wisconsin cities. Small and medium sized cities, it was observed, are generally associated with high quality of life, low crime rate, low taxes, good schools, and affordable housing. |
Monitoring Wisconsin (Spring 2005) The main article in theSpring 2005 issue of of the ISPR Monitoring Wisconsin was contributed by Dr. Keith Bender of the Department of Economics at UW-Milwaukee. In the article Dr. Bender discu- sses the issue of economic well-being of the elderly in Wisconsin. |
