Mini Courses:

ISPR offers three, one-credit mini courses during the spring and fall semesters. These courses are:

  • Microcomputing Basics (534-100)
  • Microcomputing in the Social Sciences (534-103)
  • Internet Applications for the Social Sciences (534-104)

These courses, together, cover several topics relating to the application of computing technology to Social Science research. Students enrolled in these classes learn about personal computers, mainframes, and the use of various software -- wordprocessing, database management, and statistical application programs.

Computer Classrooms:

In keeping with its commitment to support the latest in educational technology, ISPR maintains two instructional computer classrooms that are used by the Social Science faculty for teaching various courses -- economics, econometrics, political science, statistics, geographic information systems, etc.

These classrooms have a total of 62 students-workstations and 2 instructor-workstations. All workstations are networked and are part of the campus network. Technical assistance for these classrooms is provided by Information & Media Technologies and the College of Letters and Science's Information Technology Office.
