| All new unclassified staff employed at 1/3 time or more with anticipated appointments of less than 12 months or one (1) academic year. One-third time equals a 28% appointment for the academic year and a 21% appointment for annual appointments. Graduate appointments must be 33% each contractual appointment. Fellows, Scholars, Trainees, Advanced Opportunity Fellows and Post-Doctoral Scholars must receive a minimal stipend equal to 33% of the Dissertator Fellowship rate. To be eligible for benefits, the initial appointment must be at least one semester for academic year employees or six months for annual appointees. Must apply within 30 days of first eligible appointment. Coverage begins the first of month on/after the Benefits Office receives timely application. If above deadlines are missed, employees may only enroll in the standard indemnity plan with a 180-day waiting period for pre-existing conditions. | Comprehensive hospital, surgical and medical benefits from Health Maintenance Organizations, Preferred Provider plans or the States Standard fee for service plans. Other benefits such as dental coverage and deductibles vary among plans. Single and family coverage available. |

Expenses that can be paid by ERAs include qualified dependent care expenses as defined by IRS and allowable medical and dental expenses, not covered by insurance. Insurance premiums may not be included as an expense. You save federal, Wisconsin and social security taxes on these expenses. |
Pre-tax salary reductions that save income and social
security taxes. Maximums are $5,000 for Dependent Care, $7,500 for Medical
expenses.
