Service Related Seminar
Date/Time: TBA
Most students polled in the graduate student survey are not aware of service opportunities in the department and the university at large. Volunteering time toward service related activities on campus not only enhances one's vita, but also encourages the development of networking skills while helping to enhance the well-being of the university. Opportunities exist within and outside the department for graduate students to get involved in academic affairs not directly related to their research. The seminar will focus on bringing examples of service-related opportunities to light, and how students may pursue them. Their importance and proper citation will also be discussed. A panel of faculty members from around the campus will speak at this event. Students are encouraged to bring service related questions to this session.
Topics will include, but are not limited to:
- Benefits of service.
- Departmental service opportunities.
- Campus-wide service opportunities.
- Professional Service will be emphasized.
