The American Geographical
Society Library assumes the responsibility of serving the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
community as the clearinghouse for digital spatial data on campus. An

Additional diverse sets of databases are available at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for GIS education, research, and community development. Among the key databases are the following:
Milwaukee Property (MPROP) File
Available on the University's DEC Alpha network, a database of current land and building data for each of the 160,000 properties in the city, including address, owner name and address, assessed value, land use, building type, zoning, dwelling units, year of construction, last conveyance date and type. Annual historical MPROP Files for each year beginning with 1975 are also available.
A series of digital map files from the City of Milwaukee's GIS, including parcel boundaries, street names, addresses, tax key numbers, land use symbols, rights-of-way, zoning, and associated dimensions and text information organized by Quarter Section. Available on the University's DEC Alpha network.
Milwaukee Digital Street Segment Map
A file of digital map information for the City of Milwaukee including all street segments, census tracts, blocks and block numbers, street names and address ranges. Available on the Urban Planning GIS laboratory computers.
U.S. Census Bureau TIGER Files
Files of digital street segment maps from the U.S. Census Bureau including street centerlines, non-street features, address ranges, census blocks and tracts for Wisconsin counties and selected other states. Available on the IMT Alpha network.
1990 U.S. Census Data
Population and housing data from the 1990 Census are available on CD ROM at the American Geographic Society (AGS) Library at the Golda Meir Library.
Milwaukee Social and Political Attitudes Survey Data
Results from an annual survey of Milwaukee area citizens on their social and political attitudes. Available at the Institute for Survey and Policy Research.
State of Wisconsin Employment Database
A database of Wisconsin employers updated annually on employment data (ES-202), maintained by the Center for Urban Initiatives and Research.
NASA
Ames Research Center
A formal agreement now provides the University with archived high altitude U-2 digital data on thematic mapper simulator bands for many locations across the continental U.S. With the appropriate GIS hardware and software, this data can be extremely useful for research in geology, geography, natural resources, land use, and agriculture.
