The following GIS applications by UWM faculty, staff, and students are presented here to illustrate application of GIS technology in multidisciplinary fields.
WaterBase: An aquatic data warehouse and visualization access point developed by the UWM WATER Institute.
UCGIS Urban Indicators Project An urban indicators literature database with participants at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, University of Iowa, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Virginia Commonwealth University and West Virginia University. The bibliography is a work in progress. At the moment, this list has been designed to share information and resources ONLY among participating universities and their international partners.
Field MetaCatalog: A final project in GIS4 (Advanced Techniques in Urban Geographic Information Systems) in the Department of Urban Planning created by graduate student John Zastrow. The purpose of this internet application is to enable browsing of pu blic environmental datasets.
Youth Mapping: A project at the Center for Urban Initiatives and Research that maps information collected by local youth during the summer of 1997 on the availability of youth services and programs in inner-city Milwaukee neighborh oods.
Indicators of Housing and Neighborhood Quality: A 1998 project by UWM's Housing Research Institute to track housing-based indicators over time for the Lindsay Heights neighborhood in Milwaukee.
GIS Potential in Planning: Current Projects in the U.S. : A collection of current GIS projects in US: Local Government and Urban Planning.
Changing of Milwaukee: 2000 project by UWM Urban Planning illustrating the expansion of Milwaukee from 1840 to 1980
